What are aquaponics?
Aquaponics is a relatively simple system designed to grow fish in tanks and utilize the fertilized water to create a nutrient-rich water supply for plants grown in trays and media beds. The first known use of this type of system is with the Aztecs, who grew vegetables in rafts that floated in the lakes, using the lake water underneath to nourish the plants. In the modern age, aquaponics is gaining traction around the world as a safe and easy way to produce pesticide-free, organic greens and clean fish using a fraction of the water and soil normally used in farming.
